The RMS Queen Mary, permanently docked in Long Beach, CA, is nowadays famous as a luxury wedding chapel and banquet hall, and for the 314-room luxury Art Deco hotel.

But the Queen Mary's illustrious career began on May 27, 1936, and survived WWII and three voyages by Winston Churchill himself.

After WWII, the Queen Mary notched up 1,001 crossings across the Atlantic doing passenger service for 20 years.

After its last journey, the ship arrived in Long Beach on Dec 9, 1967. In the 43 years since, the ship has changed hands many times and is currently run by Buffalo, NY based Delaware North Companies.
